The Musée de la civilization is classified as immovable heritage in the Directory of cultural heritage of Quebec. The museum presents temporary thematic exhibitions in addition to permanent exhibitions, the vast majority of which have a link with the human and social sciences. The Musée de la civilization is part of the network of the Société des musées du Québec.
