You won’t want to miss British sensation Alt-J at the Quebec Summer Festival on July 5, 2019 on the Scene Bell on Plains of Abraham.
Come and see the first visit to Quebec City of an Indie rock sensation that gathers praises from the press around the world as the concert from Alt-J at the Quebec City Summer Festival will be presented on July 5, 2019. The group will be preceded on stage by another band from Great Britain, Scotland this time, CHVRCHES and their sound inspired by the synth-pop of the late 70’s.
Formed by singer, guitarist and bassist Joe Newman, percussionist Thom Sonny Green and keyboardist Gus Unger Hamilton, the band from Leeds in the North of England offers a trippy, melodic indie-rock sound that should appeal to a wide audience of music lovers.
Formed in 2007 as a quartet, it’s in 2012 that the world discovers Alt-J with their album An Awesome Wave which features the band’s biggest hit, Breezeblocks. This Is All Yours follows in 2014, the first album of the group as a trio since the original guitarist, Gwil Sainsbury decides to leave the group he had founded with his best friends in January of that year. Their most recent studio album dates back to summer 2017 with Relaxer.
Although the group has already performed several shows on Canadian soil, most notably two performances at the Montreal Osheaga Festival in 2013 and 2015, it will be the first time that the band will be on stage in the Quebec City area when they hit the Bell Stage stage on Plains of Abraham on the second day of the 52nd edition of the Quebec City Summer Festival.
Fun fact, the real name of the group is actually composed of the sign Δ which indicates a change or something different, which explains perfectly the band’s very peculiar sound. The name Alt-J is derived from the fact that pressing the “Alt” and “J” keys on a PC keyboard causes the sign to appear.
The show from Alt-J at the Quebec Summer Festival will be a very popular event for many music lovers. Pass for the entire festival are on sale on the Quebec City’s Summer Festival website.
